History

By a government decree, the “Ural Repair Plant” was established on the site of the forest protection station to provide repair services for truck and tractor engines and equipment.

A foundry with an annual casting capacity of 1,000 tonnes has been built and commissioned. Production of large and small counterweights for the DT-54 tractor has been established. Centrifugal casting for cylinder liner blanks has been developed and implemented.

A mechanical workshop was set up to machine tractor counterweights. Owing to the plant’s technical development, it became necessary to establish a tool shop for the manufacture of jigs and dies. The workforce numbered 500 people.

Commissioning of the forging and pressing workshop. Production of spanners, connecting rods and connecting rod caps for ZIL and GAZ motor vehicles was established. Annual production of spanners reached 2.5 million units. High-frequency hardening equipment for wrenches was commissioned. Production of medium-pressure hoses for combine harvester hydraulic systems was established.

The building housing the vehicle repair workshop was commissioned. A repair service for GAZ-series vehicles and engines was set up. The company mastered the overhaul of GAZ-51, GAZ-52 and GAZ-53 engines and vehicles. The refurbishment of injector plunger pairs, check valves and other components was actively implemented.

Transition to industrial production. Production of AC-2.6 tanker lorries (petrol tankers) based on the GAZ-51 chassis was established; annual output reached 2,385 units as early as 1965. The number of employees at the plant rose to 1,230. Production of parts using dies was introduced. In 1966, production of the 0Z-415M and ATZ-2.2 refuelling vehicles, based on the GAZ-51, was launched.

The factory was awarded the Order of Lenin for its achievements in the refurbishment of fuel system plunger assemblies for tractors. During this period, the factory began manufacturing 50 m³ underground storage tanks using automated welding. Annual production stood at 900 units.

Construction of the new production building for the welding and assembly workshop has been completed and the facility has been commissioned; production of road tankers and mobile refuelling units has commenced there. A Central Design Bureau for the development of storage equipment has been established. The workforce during this period stood at 1,600 people.

Completion of the production building and commissioning of the electroplating and plastics workshop, where operations were set up for the surface treatment of products and the manufacture of plastic components from Capron and polyamide. Production has been established for 03-9721 loading and unloading units and AC-4.2-53A tankers based on GAZ-53 vehicles.

Production of DN 50 RU 16 ball valves has been established; the initial production of the KSS-2.6 silo harvesting combine was carried out in collaboration with other factories in Kazakhstan.

Conversion to OAO ‘Uralskagroremmash’.

OJSC ‘Uralskagroremmash’ was declared bankrupt (Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1575 of 20 November 1995), following which a change in the company’s management took place and a new market-oriented strategy was adopted.

For the first time in Kazakhstan, a trial batch of road-cleaning vehicles has been produced, and new models of tankers and mobile refuelling units based on ZIL, KamAZ, Ural and GAZ vehicles have been developed.

Production of fire-fighting tankers was established, the only such facility in Kazakhstan. The range of models varied in capacity from 0.5 m³ to 8 m³, based on GAZ, KamAZ and Ural chassis. More than 30 models of fire tankers were designed and manufactured. An Italian-made paint and drying chamber was commissioned.

Production has been launched and tests conducted for the YuMZ tractor, the ZhVP-9 reaper, the OPSH-2000 sprayer, and the PK-20 seed treater. The plant has begun implementing a quality management system based on the ISO 9000 international standard (2001 version).

A hot-dip galvanizing line was prepared for startup and commissioned; the assembly of SKM-5-1M "Niva-Effekt" grain harvesters was mastered, and 60 units were delivered to the West Kazakhstan Region.

Production of ZhVN-6 mounted headers, ZPN-100 mounted grain loaders, and KSK-2.1 seeders was launched. In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Joint-Stock Companies" (No. 415-II dated May 13, 2003), and pursuant to a decision made by the General Meeting of Shareholders on November 20, 2004, the plant was reorganized into the "Uralskagroremmash" Joint-Stock Company, and a new Charter was adopted.

The plant celebrated its 50th anniversary. Partnerships have been established with enterprises in Russia and Ukraine. Orders are being fulfilled for foreign companies operating in Kazakhstan—including those from the UK, the USA, Germany, Italy, and Hungary.

The plant's workshops have been modernized under the "Business Roadmap 2020" and "Accelerated Innovative Development" state programs. The hot-dip galvanizing line underwent reconstruction. A second power supply line was installed, complete with a new switchgear unit and transformer substation, providing a second independent power source. The Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region attended the opening of the renovated workshop.

During the state delegation's visit to the West Kazakhstan Region, Head of State N.A. Nazarbayev visited the plant, where he highly commended the trend of upgrading the technological equipment fleet and the quality of the multifunctional specialized municipal vehicles.

The plant has produced a record number of specialized vehicles. At the same time, the quality, versatility, and ease of maintenance of the vehicles have reached an even higher, professional level.
